Cheese Lovers United
Every September, cheese lovers, cheese makers and loads of people just seeking a good - and tasty - time, gather on the lawns below Cardiff Castle to celebrate the variety and quality of Great British cheeses.A few weeks earlier, cheeses from across the country are tasted and judged for the British Cheese Awards to name the best British cheeses in a variety of categories. In 2010, at least 900 cheeses were considered.
The three-day festival, which is managed by Cardiff Council and supported by the Welsh Assembly and the British Cheese Awards features:
- masterclasses and demonstrations in four different venues
- several different markets offering cheeses (of course), plus Best of British, a Taste of Wales and The Cook and Book Shop
- a CAMRA Real Ale pup, The Cardiff Arms, with different styles of real ales and beers, ciders and perries
- Live entertainment and games throughout the festival.
