This one's for stand-up fans. For about three weeks in October, Reading, a smallish city west of London, becomes a mecca for top British and Irish comedy acts and their fans. In addition to standup, the festival usually includes one or two comedy films and comic plays. Open mic nights are for the really brave, willing to put their best in front of an audience already tuned in to some of the best standups around.
