A Convention with a Twist
In the City, Manchester's new music conference, is a daytime trade convention and a series of nighttime showcases and performances by established and unsigned indie bands. Indie artists from around the world apply to perform by submitting a CD before early August. Those chosen get a chance to appear before an audience of record labels, publishers, broadcasters, concert organizers and venue managers as well as music fans. For music lovers heading to Manchester during the festival, it's a chance to see the best of this year's crop of new indie bands.The schedule of live music events, including venues and ticket prices, appears on the In the City website during September.
