Young people from all over the highlands compete in traditional music and dancing. Prizes are awarded for accordion, fiddle, clarsach (a traditional Celtic harp), piano, recorder, woodwind & brass, singing, Scottish country dancing, highland dancing and choreography. The Oban Pipe Band leads the festival parade. In the invitational Piobaireachd, eleven of the highland's top pipers compete for trophies.
