Author Daphne Du Maurier spent 30 years in Fowey (pronounced Foy) an impossibly pretty harbor town on what has come to be called the Cornish Riviera. Every year, the town celebrates Du Maurier's birthday (May 13) with a festival of music, dance, drama, comedy, exhibitions and fairs, films, garden visits, poetry readings, storytellling, walks and talks.

In 2007, the festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of Du Maurier's birth with a host of celebrities including Joanne Harris, author of Chocolat; film directors Ken Russell and Nicholas Roeg, and many others.
