Since it was named the European City of Culture, in 1990, Scotland's "second city" has become cooler and cooler. The popular annual jazz festival once featured mostly home grown talent and the scope of Scotland's own jazz musicians is impressive. But lately it has reached out to attract a more international range of artists.

Expect everything from free improv, blues, cool and hot jazz, reggae, hiphop, fusion, progressive, R&B, and soul to Dixieland, New Orleans style and Swing. The performers in 2012 include drummer Ginger Baker, jazz funk group the James Taylor Quartet, hip hop jazz from Soweto Kinch, American keyboard player Robert Glasper and German jazz trio Das Kapital.

In 2012, they launched a brand new and very jazzy website where they make last minute announcements, including mystery headliners. And, for the first time in 2012, they will be including the almost legendary Glasgow music venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in the schedule of events.
