Flamenco - A Uniquely Spanish Dance Tradition To Enjoy in England

©Ferne Arfin
Since Spanish flamenco artist Joachim Cortez burst onto the world stage in the nineties, filling theatres and even dating Naomi Campbell, flamenco has exploded in popularity. In London, thousands have discovered that, rather than waning with time, an initially casual interest can quickly develop into an enduring fascination with the sensuality, passion and intensity of this Spanish dance.

London now boasts a choice of flamenco lessons every night as well as a number of places where visitors can eat and drink while allowing the music and dance to transport them to more exotic climes.

This passionate music and dance looks so casual, impromptu and easy that you may well want to watch more, buy the music or learn how to dance it for yourself.

And, the good news is, you don't have to travel to Spain or struggle with unfamiliar terms in Spanish. It's all available in English, right in London.

Photographs used throughout this feature were taken at flamenco classes run by Escuela de Baile and taught by the school's head, Nuria Garcia.
