Definition: A Gaelic word for a traditional Scottish or Irish gathering during which people perform traditional music, dance, storytelling, jokes and other performance pieces. A Ceilidh can be an informal gathering or party at home, in a hall or a pub, where the guests all perform. It can also be a more formal gathering where professional performers appear.
