Book Review: Bare Britain - Guide to the Top Nude Beaches in the UK

Bare Britain a guide to the best nude beaches in England, Scotland and Wales by Nick Mayhew-Smith and Mike Charles, bills itself as a comprehensive guide to "What to do when you've nothing on."

Well, not quite. But if "what to do" in your book includes baring your bits on beautiful, secluded beaches (albeit in usually chilly weather) or getting them chilled in Britain's frigid coastal waters, then this is the best guidebook to nude Britain around.

Produced in partnership with British Naturism, the British nudist organization, it's packed with information and with the most wholesome nude pictures I've ever seen.

Nude beach reviews are grouped:

• Along England's South, Southwest, East and Northwest coasts
• in Scotland and the Scottish Islands
• in Wales
• in Ireland

Each review includes:

• A lengthy description of the nude beach and facilities
• Map references for the nude beach and directions on how to get there, where to park etc.
• Contact details for places to stay, caravan parks and camping near the nude beach.

The book also gives information about which nude beaches are "official" and which beaches are nude by custom, where discretion is required.

The book is liberally illustrated with pictures of the nude beaches featuring male and female nudists of all ages, shapes and sizes.

They're too cold for me, but as the pictures of many of the nude beaches indicate, there are naturists who will swim naked even in the cold waters off Britain. But the book also includes clubs and swimming pools where nudists can swim in warmer waters, out of the cold weather.
