The Scottish Arts & Crafts period lodge, built between 1864 and 1870 as a summer residence for a wealthy Glaswegian, has been restored by the current owners and now houses one of the UK's largest collections of Arts&Crafts furniture and antiques.
Additionally, the loch-shore lodge accommodations include the magnificent Tree House pictured here, and the secluded Summerhouse, a self-contained cottage that offers total privacy for a totally loved-up couple.
The Tree House is licenced for weddings, offering a spectacular, fairytale setting. Or it can be booked for private dining.
Winter Breaks for Lovers
Usually only available to be booked in its entirety, the Lodge on Loch Goil occasionally offers short, Indulgence Breaks for couples (in 2011, two weeks in November have been set aside for this). The breaks include afternoon tea, pre-dinner canapés and champagne, and 5-course candlelight dinner, full Scottish breakfasts and a surprise gift in the room.
Couples can stay in one of the lodge's seven, ensuite rooms, equipped with iron bedsteads, roll top baths, cashmere throws and indulgent organic toiletries. Or they can choose the Summerhouse, dating from 1890, with its woodburning stove, small private kitchen (where the staff can put the finishing touches on a dinner a deux) and luxury Scottish cashmere fabrics.
Arrive in Style
For a special treat, couples who travel 1st Class on the West Coast Sleeper service, will be met by the a driver and delivered to the Lodge in time for breakfast. They'll find a goody bag full of choccies, champagne and other goodies in their sleeper cabin.
Not romantic enough? You can also arrange to arrive at the Lodge, about two miles south of Lochgoilhead village, by seaplane or boat from Arrochar, Helensburgh or Greenock.
And a Loved Up Lunch
As you might imagine, 5-star romantic getaways at the Lodge on Loch Goil, owned by a former fashion model, do not come cheap. But you can still enjoy a romantic tryst over a special, and quite reasonably priced lunch prepared by the lodge's top chef.
