Al Frash - The Butterfly in Punjabi - is one of Birmingham's foremost Balti Restaurants, specializing in the one-pot Punjabi and Kashmiri-style cooking created in Birmingham. This Balti restaurant is regularly named to top lists for Balti restaurants in the UK. It was voted one of five restaurants to represent Birmingham in a Curry Capital of Britain competition in 2007 and The Guardian newspaper placed it 6th on its list of the top 10 Indian restaurants in the UK. In a country that has thousands of Balti restaurants and tens of thousands of Indian restaurants, that is no mean feat.

The atmosphere is relaxed and casual at this Balti restaurant in Birmingham's Balti Triangle. The restaurant reopened in 2007, following nine months of refurbishments. It is simply decorated, with white walls, wood floors, a few colorful abstract paintings and modern chrome and wood tables and chairs.
