Shopping in Brighton is about picking up the indie vibe of small boutiques and shops in the town's two unique shopping districts, the Lanes and the North Laine.
Department stores and basic necessities can be found at Churchill Square with its Debenhams, Bhs and about 90 other popular high street shops.
But for visitors and locals alike, a fun day browsing the shops inevitably leads elsewhere.
The Lanes
All that remains of Medieval Brighton (burnt by the French in 1514) is The Lanes - a network of impossibly narrow lanes and even narrower "twittens". Original fishermen's cottages are now filled with jewelry, antiques and gift shops, cafes and small fashion boutiques. The North Laine
The more bohemian North Laine has more independent retailers than anywhere else on the south coast. Market traders, circa 1970s head shops and cutting edge designers line the area between North Road and Trafalgar Street, north of the Royal Pavilion. These pictures give a flavor of what to expect.
