This may look like the Chelsea Flower Show, but actually, you're in a geodesic dome within the Southern Argyre Planitia, site of an ancient lake, on Mars.

That is the concept of designer Sarah Eberle's garden, 600 Days with Bradstone, Best in Show winner at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2007.

The garden, based on several years of research, investigates "how an individal would enrich his life" during off duty periods during a 600 day tour of duty on Mars.

Plants chosen for the astronaut's personal space are all edible and include luxury food items - olives, figs, carob and pistachio and medicinal plants such as calendula, aloe, arnica and opium poppy.
