A Day at Blists Hill - A Victorian Town in the Ironbridge Gorge

A Living Museum of a Small Industrial Town

By , About.com Guide

Blists Hill Victorian Town is one of the highlights of Ironbridge Gorge, a ten-museum UNESCO World Heritage site in Shropshire that celebrates one of the world's earliest industrial areas. The town is a living museum, where you can immerse yourself in the life and times, shops, factories, foods and even smells of a small industrial town of the Victorian era. When we visited, Blists Hill was celebrating the Queeen's Diamond Jubilee. That's Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897, by the way. These are some of the scenes you can expect to come across on a visit to Blists Hill.
