Hats at Royal Ascot get wilder, taller and more important every year. At one time, the parade of fashion and hats only took place on Ladies' Day, the third day of racing at Royal Ascot in June. But these days, fashion and fashionable hats are in the spotlight every day at this major event of the English social calender.
Every year, women vie with each other for a moment in the spotlight. There's even a sort of winner's circle where celebs in hats can stop to pose for a crowd of papparazzi. And only two things can be counted upon year after year. Mrs. Edward Claridge will appear in the most towering and outrageous confections. And the Queen will wear virtually the same hat - with a different color and slightly different trim, every single day of Royal Ascot.
