A big old Georgian guest house at the bottom of the hill leading to Dover Castle, Hubert House has long been the choice of English Channel swimmers. It has a variety of large rooms, some of which can accommodate a family of six. All rooms have ensuite shower and toilet, TV, hair dryer. Some are equipped with fridges. Breakfast isn't included in the price but is available in the inn's own popular coffee house and bakery.

Hubert House has been a favorite of English Channel swimmers for a long time. The house has a Wall of Fame to honor the many who have stayed there.
In 2005,German swimmer Christof Wandratsch, used Hubert House as his base for his record breaking swim of seven hours and three minutes (14 minutes faster than the former record). Hubert House co-owner Peter Hanson was in Wandratsch's pilot boat support team.
Other channel swimmers who have stayed include:
- Alison Streeter - Queen of the Channel, who has swum it 43 times
- Kevin Murphy - veteran of 33 swims
- Australian swimmer, the late Des Renford
- American Tom Hetzel - 8 swims to his name
- Veljko Rogosic - so far the only Croatian to have swum the English Channel and, at 64, the oldest.
