Description:
A three hundred year old, country hotel in the Cotswolds, the Bear of Rodborough was refurbished, by the current owners, in a sympathetic style influenced by William Morris and the Arts & Crafts Movement. Rooms are furnished in rich, colorful fabrics and have nicely done bathrooms. Some of the rooms have four poster beds. In addition to the main hotel, there's a modern addition with rooms that are well equipped for business travelers.
The hotel is nicely located in an area of the Cotswolds made famous in the classic English memoir, Cider with Rosie, by Laurie Lee.

The Box Tree Restaurant:
A seasonal menu is meaty but stylish and features heritage breeds such as Old Spot pork in a cider reduction and Cotswold lamb with cinnamon and redcurrent glaze. For vegetarians, there's a pumpkin risotto and a nice choice of starters. Tuna and salmon also appear on a menu that was The Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards 2005 winner for the Most Distinctive Local Menu. Hotel residents who book dinner when they book their room get a substantial discount on the three-course, fixed price menu.
The Grizzly Bear:
Besides a good selection of British ales, the hotel's bar has an extensive and reasonably priced menu of soups, sandwiches, salads, starters, pastas and main courses, served in a more casual atmosphere. Sandwiches start at about £6 and main courses range from £8.50 for ham with eggs, peas and chips, to £13.95 for an 8oz sirloin.
