Among Ightham Mote's picuresque features, the stables, built about 1487, are a highlight. Today, they have been converted into a range of cottages, some of which can be rented by vacationers, as well as the estate's National Trust gift shop. Two walled gardens nearby include a cuttings garden and a larger walled orchard with several Tudor beehives.

Laundry Cottage, the left end of the stable block in this picture, is available for vacation rentals. Despite its ancient style, it has all modern amenities including television, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, freezer, crib and high chair.

The cottage, available year round, sleeps four, plus a baby and has a sitting room with woodburning stove, an antique brass and iron bed and a twin bedroom.
