In June and July, when native English berries are at their best, no traditional event would be complete without them. A dish of strawberries and cream is as essential a part of watching tennis at Wimbledon, rowing at Henley or racing at Ascot as a hot dog is at a World Series baseball game.
Eton Mess, a sweet variation on ordinary strawberries and cream, is traditionally enjoyed at the June 4 awards day picnic by parents and students of 567 year old Eton College, England's oldest prep school.
It's easy to make and it got its name because it looks like...well, a mess actually. Get in the spirit of English summertime with this traditional treat.

Serves 4- 20 fluid oz whipping cream or extra heavy cream
