The one thing, however that Brighton lacked, until a few year ago, was a really good restaurant where one could find serious modern cooking in a comfortable atmosphere.
Due South, tucked into a fisherman's arch under the Promenade on Brighton Beach, changed all that when it opened in 2003. Specialising in carefully and imaginatively prepared seafood and modern European cuisine, the restaurant also emphasises seriously green principals. Ingredients are all organic and sourced locally. Even the wine list is limited to European products because of the carbon footprint of New World wines.
