The Bottom Line
The No Name, in Brighton's Kemp Town, is the kind of place that's handy to know about. The food is not memorable but not bad, the ambiance is all about brown - brown walls, brown bar, brown upholstered benches and sofas. But it is friendly and easy going and its dog-friendly "snug" is worth knowing about.Essentials

Review of the No Name Restaurant in Brighton
It's hard to know exactly what to say about the locally popular No Name Restaurant. It's the sort of place that's useful to know about if you're in the neighborhood and can't decide what kind of food you'd like. The place is arranged in three sections:
- a proper sit down restaurant with table cloths and candles which, I am told, is a good first date restaurant
- a wine bar with sofas and a selection of odd and expensive looking teas along the back wall. My friends told me no one actually drinks these teas - from an online merchant - but they make an nice display on the wall.
- A sort of dark little "snug", with a few wooden tables and chairs as well as uncomfortable upholstered benches, where you can bring along your dog.
The restaurant was moderately busy, a couple were canoodling on one of the sofas in the wine bar and, besides Wallace and me, the only other occupant of the snug was a woman drinking coffee and working on a laptop.
I was feeling vegetarian so I had some pea soup and a wild mushroom tart. Both were nice enough but really a bit overpriced. With a glass of wine, coffee and tip my bill came to almost £25 which seemed too much to pay for what was essentially a light and rather pedestrian meal.
I have to add that the No Name is very popular with residents of Kemp Town and often recommended. And they were very nice to Wallace.
