Summer in the United Kingdom is the season for some of the most famous events on the UK's social, sporting and cultural calendar. The Edinburgh Cavalcade

August is festival month in Edinburgh. The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the biggest performing arts festival in the world, with thousands of shows and tens of thousands of individual performances. But the Fringe Festival is just part of the story. Summer in Ediburgh also means film, literary and visual arts festivals as well as the high art of the Edinburgh International Festival. The population of Edinburgh's capital doubles during the festivals season. Here's why:
