The National Trust and NTS Easter Egg Trails
For several years, The National Trust and the National Trust of Scotland (NTS) have run Easter Egg Trails supported by Cadbury at hundreds of National Trust properties all over the UK. The trails, combined with property specific activities, including face painting and games, are scheduled during Easter Bank Holiday and Easter school vacations. There are, naturally, chocolate prizes, provided by Cadbury, at the end of the trails.
Search the National Trust Easter Egg Trail website by post code, the name of a National Trust Property or a town to find your nearest Easter Egg Trail. The website has information on specific dates, the kinds of activities included and (for UK residents only) how to enter the Design Your Own Egghead competition.
The Great Peter Rabbit/Beatrix Potter Easter Egg Hunt
Billing itself as the North's biggest Easter Egg Hunt and sponsored by The World of Beatrix Potter, this is a unique treasure hunt across Cumbria. A total of 100 limited edition Peter Rabbit ceramic eggs, specially designed by local potter Sue Dunne, are scattered in open view in the countryside, in parks and public places of the Cumbrian Lake District.
Clues are published on the event website (in 2010 the clues will appear on March 31) and the treasure hunt - which is free to enter - lasts until all the eggs are found. Finders get to keep the collectors edition eggs, receive family admission to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, a copy The Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt book and entry into a competition for more prizes.
