St. Michael-le-Belfry, in the medieval city of York, is a small, rectangular parish church next to York Minster. A plaque in the narthex - or entrance lobby - provides information about Guy Fawkes, Gunpowder Plot co-conspirator, who was baptized here on April 16, 1570.

In 2007, the parish noticeboard listed tickets being sold for a "family fun" fireworks night in someone's home on November 5. There was no mention of a bonfire or of burning a guy and there was no reference of the occasion as Guy Fawkes Day.
