Gosport and Fareham, a pair of tiny towns overlooking historic Portsmouth Harbour, kick off the Easter festival season with a celebration of traditional and contemporary Celtic folk music.

The four-hour, daytime concerts are very good value. There are also evening concerts every night. With three hundred popular musicians in town, plan on dancing, workshops, singaround, ceilidhs and parties into the night. There's also a crafts "fayre", a Real Ale Bar and a late night festival club.

Program and tickets from the festival website, along with information about accommodation and camping.

Also in the area: Stay in the area and make it a music fortnight - the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival starts just a couple of days later. Spend some time visiting Portmouth, the historic home of the Royal Navy, and, incidentally, The Ship Anson, one of our favorite local pubs. Then stop by Porchester, for a visit to Porchester Castle and The Cormorant, another great English pub.
