July Weather View - Be Prepared

July is usually one of warmest and driest months of the year, but lately averages don't mean very much. Throughout the UK in 2006, July was about 50% hotter and drier than normal. Heading into July 2007, the climate seemed to have flipflopped and it was very wet indeed.

The key is, come prepared for anything, from cool and cloudy to blazing sunlight (mostly a South Coast phenomenon). A rule of thumb is, it always rains for Wimbledon. Meanwhile - here are some averages for guidance:

England:

  • High - 68°F (20°C)
  • Low - 52°F (11°C)
  • Average daily hours of sunshine - 5.95
  • Average monthly rainfall - 2.3" (58.57mm)
Scotland
  • High - 61°F (16°C)
  • Low - 48°F (9°C)
  • Average daily hours of sunshine - 4.56
  • Average monthly rainfall - 3.75" (95.27mm)
Wales
  • High - 66°F (19°C)
  • Low - 51°F (10°C)
  • Average daily hours of sunshine - 5.65
  • Average monthly rainfall - 3.3" (83.77mm)

July Daylight

The UK's northern latitudes confer the benefit of very long summer days. Sunrise throughout July is before 5 a.m. and Sunset well after 9 p.m. Expect between 17 and 19 hours of daylight, depending upon how far north you are. With lots of attractions closing at dusk that leaves hours to explore.
