Almost every room of the hotel has generous windows overlooking the terraces of formal, italianate gardens.

Welcombe Manor became a hotel in 1931, when it was a British Transport Hotel, owned by a railway company. At one time it was also owned by the Orient Express Company.

The current owners bought the hotel in 2003 and set about restoring it to the height of luxurious country house style. That included recreating the gardens as well as refilling and relandscaping a large pond that forms part of each rooms outlook.
