Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire, where 300 years ago the Industrial Revolution got it's kick start, has been named the most recommended UNESCO World Heritage site in the United Kingdom and second in the world by contributors to Tripadvisor. In a cooperative study run by UNESCO and Tripadvisor, more than 1.1 million people returned traveler feedback forms putting Ironbridge at the top of their list for the UK and second only to the Historic Ensemble of the Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet , in the world. That places the 10-museum site, and the beautiful Iron Bridge itself, ahead of such icons as the Pyramids and the Taj Mahal.
If you haven't visited Ironbridge Gorge yet, get there before the hordes descend. It's a great place to take the family.
