Hisssss...Chinese New Year is a Month Away

By January 13, 2013

Follow me on:

It's not long now until Chinese New Year. The official date is February 10 but most celebrations this year will take place between then an February 17, with some starting as early as February 7.

Chinese communities all over the UK will be inviting their neighbors to join feasts, parades, performances, markets and more.

Chinese food is irresistable and celebrating Chinese New Year will probably put you in the mood to tuck into a few platefuls yourself. Check out some of the best Chinese restaurants in the UK, or take a quickie class to cook some up like a pro.

And...if you can't get to the UK - or China - there are still plenty of places around the world to join the party. About.com's China guide Sara Naumann, has collected the celebrations from About.com's travel guides all over the world, so you can find a celebration closer to home.

And, in case you haven't yet worked out why you should hiss...it's the Year of the Snake, of course.
