You may think that Santa drives a sleigh with reindeer - and most of the time, he does. But just before his big night, he likes to drop in on Britain to check out who's been naughty and nice and to find out what's on children's wish lists around the country.
For those journeys, Santa prefers to take the train. Not just any train, you understand. For Santa, only the UK's marvelous heritage steam railways will do. During December, you might find Santa riding alongside the Dart Estuary in one of the vintage carriages of the Dartmouth Steam Railway, like the one pictured here, exploring the Shropshire countryside or taking the scenic route across Dorset in a lovingly restored carriage pulled by an antique steam locomotive.
