Living abroad, I am constantly reminded of the privileges and the responsibilities of being an American. One of our most important privileges - and responsibilities - is voting. This year the whole world is holding its collective breath once again to see what we'll do. Don't let the world, your country or yourself down by neglecting to vote.

If you are a US citizen living in the UK - for work or school, because you are in the military or because you are married to a British citizen or a European - you can still vote. If you are planning to be in the UK on vacation during the US elections in November, you can still vote too. Even if you're in school and have never voted before, you can still register for an absentee ballot. In fact, if you thought you were not eligible to vote absentee, it's worth checking. The facts may surprise you.

Find out everything you need to know to apply for a US absentee ballot and to vote from abroad.

Then plan ahead and apply for your ballot so that you receive it in time to fill it out and post it to the authorities in the state where you vote.
