If your idea of a vacation rental is tacky little cottage, musty with winter damp, or a clammy RV smelling of bottled gas (can you tell I'm not a fan?), then it's time you took another look at what's out there. Vacation rentals aren't what they used to be.
In the UK and Europe, vacation rentals are usually well equipped and frequently even luxurious. They can be economical alternatives to hotel stays. They free you from the tyranny and cost of restaurant meals night after night (not to mention missing breakfast if you want to sleep late) and they allow you to experience a bit of life like a local.
