A Terribly English Afternoon

Will Missed Royal Ascot? Didn't score tickets to Wimbledon? No invitation to Henley? Don't worry about it. You can still take part in the English Season in extravagant style. For an afternoon, anyway.

Have a posh afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel - it doesn't get much more English than that. Afternoon tea is the sort of treat you just want to invent special occasions to enjoy. It goes without saying that it's the way to celebrate a birthday with Gran or Auntie Maude or a catch up with a long lost girlfriend.

But why limit yourself? Found a perfect pair of new shoes, just the right shade of red nail polish? Sounds like it's time for afternoon tea. Finally agreed on the  paint color for the living room?...Time for afternoon tea. First coatless day of the year?...We think you get the idea.

Together with a friend, I recently enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea at London's oldest hotel. By the way, that curl of buttery yellow in the picture is clotted cream.

Find out about afternoon tea at Brown's Hotel.
