It's not long now until Chinese New Year. The official date is January 23 but most celebrations this year will take place between January 21 and 29, with some starting as early as January 5. Chinese communities all over the UK will be inviting their neighbors to join feasts, parades, performances, markets and more.

If you can't get to the UK - or China - there are still plenty of places around the world to join the party. About.com's China guide Sara Naumann, has collected the celebrations from About.com's travel guides all over the world, so you can find a celebration closer to home.

And, in case you haven't yet worked out why you should roar...it's the Year of the Dragon, of course.
