The Oxford Castle Ghost Fest gets underway today and between now and Halloween the castle - one of England's most haunted places - and other haunted spots around Oxford will echo with strangled screams, horrified gasps and...probably quite a few nervous giggles.

Among the events lined up:

  • Mini ghost hunts
  • Dinner with psychics at Oxford's most haunted pub, The Mitre
  • An evening of psychological illusion with Paul Bell
  • A ghost hunting tour with parapsychologist Dr. Ciaran O'Keefe, resident sceptic of British televisions Most Haunted
  • "Teen Spirits" a special spooky tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked, for 13-year-olds and above, with teen medium Ross Bartlett.
  • For Halloween, a terrifying, straightjacketed vigil in the Oxford Castle punishment cells, with psychic Christian Melek to be broadcast live on the internet.
The Ghost Fest is just one of the scary things you can do in the lead up to Halloween. Britain is, after all, an ancient and extremely haunted country...

...or not.
