Come Home, All is Forgiven - Scotland Welcomes Millions of Homecomers

Scotland's first ever Homecoming Year officially begins on Burns Night, January 25 - the annual celebration of Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns.
Homecoming Scotland 2009, from January 25 to November 30 2009, is planned to encourage people of Scottish descent, and those who simply love Scotland, to come ‘home’ in 2009 and join in a year of special celebrations.
Apparently there are an estimated 50 million people worldwide who can claim Scottish ancestry and hundreds of thousands of them (at least) are expected to visit Scotland and attend a host of special events this year, including:
- The biggest ever international Clan Gathering Gathering 2009 in Edinburgh in July
- The Open Golf Championship at Turnberry in July. The trophy, called "The Claret Jug" and also The Gold Champion Trophy, is one of the world's most coveted.
- The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in May...and lots more
