Edinburgh Buzz - One Last Bite of the Haggis
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival ends on Bank Holiday Monday (August 25), so give or take the odd extra performance, it will all be over until next year in a little more than three days time. But, if you're already in Edinburgh, or heading there this weekend, you might still be able to squeeze in one or two hot tickets. This festival, everybody seems to be talking about the spate of interactive and audience participation shows. And among the most lauded is Faulty Towers the Dining Experience, a take on the cult British comedy series Fawlty Towers - which, in turn, was based on John Cleese's own dining experience at a Scottish hotel. The two-hour show, at the oddly named B'est Restaurant on Drummond Street, performed by the Interactive Theatre Company of Australia, includes a real three-course meal, described by Senay Boztas in The Independent as "edible."
The company is staging one post-festival performance at lunchtime on Tuesday, August 26 and if you are quick off the mark, you might still bag a £29 ticket at their website. Other interactive or food based hot tickets still available include:
- Chris Neill's Got a Bun in the Oven, with cooking help from London's St. John Restaurant.
- Death by Chocolate, a murder mystery.
- Office Party, for over 18s, with a live bar.
- Joke-e-Oke, comedy karaoke.
