Dog-Friendly Travel in the UK

Three cheers and a couple of woofs for Visit Scottish Borders. The Scottish Borders tourist organization recently became the first regional tourist area in Scotland to implement a Dog-Friendly Charter, rating accommodations and attractions from 1 to 3 Paws. The ratings recognize the level of dog-friendliness, facilities (bowls, exercise areas, drying room, poop bags) and information provided. A full explanation of the Dog Friendly Charter, plus listings of dog-friendly accommodations operating within the system is available in Visit Scottish Borders' Breaks Guide '08, available through their website.

Meanwhile, Wallace the Westie, seen investigating the artwork, has been accumulating his own dog-friendly hotel recommendations, awarding 1 to 5 Paws.
