If The Wimbledon Tennis Championships are on then there are two things you can be sure of:

• the best English strawberries are in season.

Strawberries and cream are as much a part of the English social sport season (tennis, rowing, polo, Ascot) as hot dogs are part of a baseball game.

Why not get into the mood for the Wimbledon women's finals tomorrow and the men's finals on Sunday, by whipping up a batch of Eton Mess, a scrumptious and traditional English strawberries and cream dessert, and contemplating the fact that Wimbledon is the world's only Grand Slam Tennis Tournament still played on grass.
