RSC's Annual Open Day is a Triple Celebration
Tuesday April 24, 2007

This Sunday, April 29, The Royal Shakespeare Company opens the doors of all its Stratford-upon-Avon theatres, The RST, The Swan and The Courtyard, to celebrate Shakespeare's birthday with a full day of events, workshops, tours and talks for the whole family.
Most of the fun is free and will include a specially commissioned concert, a Shakespeare quiz, films, backstage and star tours, a company football match, and a chance to play your part, alongside members of the company for a Shakespeare marathon to see how many of the Bard's plays can be read in a day. Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Juliet Stevenson and Patrick Stewart are among the RSC alums who will take part.
The party also celebrates the successful completion of the RSC's year-long Complete Works Festival, during which they were joined by visiting companies from all over the world to stage and perform all the plays, sonnets and poems. And, lastly, the celebration signals the temporary closure of the main stage, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, as three years of RST modernization work gets underway.
There's still plenty of exciting things going on at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon during its 2007-2008 season. Check out the Royal Shakespeare Company schedule of upcoming productions.
